Dr. Mai grew up in San Leandro and obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree at UC Berkeley School of Optometry. She is certified to practice the full scope of optometry, which includes diagnosis and management of eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and more.

Dr. Mai believes in taking the time to listen and addressing each patient’s visual needs in order to provide the best care. She also believes in patient education and fully informing each patient of their ocular health. She is looking forward to meeting patients in the community and providing them with the best options that fit each person’s unique lifestyle needs.

Dr. Border, originally from Southern California, completed his undergraduate studies at UCLA. He gained valuable experience as a private tutor in science and mathematics, which helped him develop strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts in various ways. Upon relocating to Berkeley for optometry school, he appreciated the area’s climate, culture, and culinary offerings. He upholds the philosophy that the simplest solution is often the best solution, a principle that benefits his patients as they navigate the typical changes in their vision throughout life.

In his leisure time, Dr. Border enjoys engaging in three-hour Uno competitions with his seven-year-old, as well as biking, hiking, and walking his dog.

Dr. Nguyen grew up in Fremont and went to UC Davis for her undergraduate studies. She worked in the biotechnology field here in the Bay Area before attending UC Berkeley School of Optometry where she received the latest training in comprehensive eye care and became certified to practice in the full scope of optometry.

In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys hiking with her husband and their dogs, road biking, and working on her succulent garden.
